2025 coming soon

The Experience

  • Explore the mountains with guided runs and hikes. Ranging from 5k-21k

  • Unwind with daily yoga

  • Stunning volcanic views

  • Huskies & Horses

  • 7 nights accommodation

  • Carefully curated meals and snacks

On this unique experience we will introduce you to the Andes Mountains where you will venture off the beat and track and witness how captivating this landscape is.

Location

You’ll be staying in a solar-powered, off-grid ranch with a choice of Sheperds Huts or Timber Cabins in the Andes Mountains at 1500m above sea level.

On day four we’ll venture into the Litran valley and spend the night camping on the edge of the beautiful forest. Here you’ll find trees draped in Old Man’s Beard - a moss which only grows in areas where the air is clean and pure.

Fitness Level

During our excursions, we make stops for photos, tackle challenging uphill climbs, hydrate from natural springs, and take regular snack breaks. Adequate preparation and realistic expectations are key to enhancing your experience. We encourage you to carefully review the trip itinerary and reach out to hello@epochexperiences.co.uk with any inquiries.

You don't need to be an expert trail runner to join us! However, participants must be capable of completing the full daily distance outlined in the trip itinerary, which involves significant elevation changes, technical terrain, and occasionally challenging weather conditions in mountainous environments.

Please note that our running trips are not suitable for walkers or hikers. On certain days, you can anticipate spending 5-7 hours on the trail, including breaks and stops.

Food & Drink

We’ll be providing a curated menu of locally inspired dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked by our chef Hernan. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available.

Plus snacks to keep you going.

If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please get in touch with us.

○ The Schedule ○

  • Your journey will take you from the semi-arid plains, through the foothills and up into the Andes mountains, where the Horses & Huskies ranch is located amongst the native monkey puzzle trees. On arrival, you'll meet the team plus the various four-legged friends and then can enjoy a short hike in the immediate surroundings.

  • As part of our running journey this week, we'll aim to explore different areas. Today we'll run up the "Trés Hermanas" mountains and enjoy the volcanic views from the top both into Chile and back down into Argentina. After lunch back at the ranch, you'll have some time to yourselves before a afternoon yoga session. Followed by dinner

  • After breakfast and a gentle yoga session, we'll go in search of the Laguna Verde; a beautiful lake hidden up above the treeline (around 2000m above sea level), around 5km run/hike up from the cabins. The water is cold, dips are encouraged!

The afternoon will be spent on the ranch with optional yoga sessions and free time.

  • This morning will consist of an earlier breakfast as we prepare our kit for a night out camping. Whilst the runners take a high pass through the hills, the car will go via the valley with our equipment and meet us at the camp spot. The run will take us past the Trés Hermanas mountains and drop us down into the rich, green valley called Mallín Chileno. After crossing the valley and enjoying some fresh water to drink from the springs, we'll climb up the Mallín del Sol and over a pass into the next valley: Litran.

After traversing a sandy section above the valley, passing the Laguna de los Patos (The Duck Lake), we'll drop down into a beautiful forest mixed with both the Lenga Tree and monkey puzzles. Here you'll see the trees draped in Old Man's Beard - a moss which only grows in areas where the air is clean and pure.

We'll camp at the edge of the forest and enjoy a view over a vast valley where animals graze.

We'll eat around the camp fire and listen out for the owls as the night draws in.

  • We'll start the day with a hearty breakfast over the camp fire before making our way back to Horses and Huskies on foot. We'll hike out of camp and up into the plateau "La Meseta del Arco". We'll follow the borderline between Argentina and Chile along a ridge line, and up to the peak of Cerro Negro (Black Mountain), where we'll appreciate the most spectacular views of various Chilean volcanoes ane glaciers. We'll find an Hito (a marker post between the two countries) then follow some animal-made trails back towards the ranch, passing the impressive Chucan Waterfall.

  • This morning will be a more relaxed affair to recover from our night camping and two longer days out.

After lunch Hernán and Tilly will go into more depth about the huskies, their lifestyle, the history of sledding alongside human existence. We'll run some "Canicross" in the trails around home, you'll be able to feel the strength of the huskies whilst they pull and see how much faster you are able to run with their assistance!

  • After breakfast and a morning yoga session, we can enjoy an easy 8km run through the monkey puzzle forests along sandy tracks, jumping over some fallen trees along the way.

After lunch you'll have the afternoon to yourselves before a final dinner, a typical Argentine 'Asado' cooked out over an open fire

  • Enjoy one last breakfast in the Mountains before you depart.
